DHI Hair Transplantation
What is DHI hair transplant?
The Direct Hair Implantation (DHI) hair transplantation technique is the most recent technique in the field of hair transplantation. What distinguishes DHI from other techniques is the way it is performed. Indeed, as the name of the technique indicates, transplantation is carried out directly without the need for opening the ducts.
Using DHI implanter stylus also called -Choi Pen- (the fundamental tool of the procedure), the grafts are extracted from the donor area and simultaneously reimplanted in the recipient area.
The use of Choi pens requires the experience and high qualification of the surgeon who uses it. The accuracy of the insertion of the follicles into the transplant area is the key to a successful and natural-looking DHI transplant.
How is DHI hair transplant done?
As before any hair transplant, the patient should be consulted by the surgeon.
During the consultation, the skull study, the study of the quality of the hair, the density of the donor area of the patient – which determines the final density of his hair – is carried out, and the tracing and drawing of his future frontal line and the areas that will be operated on is done.
The consultation ends with the consent of both parties.
Technically, the DHIse hair transplant consists of two stages. Unlike other techniques, the DHI method essentially consists in the extraction of follicles from the donor area and their direct transplantation by the implanter stylus (Choi Pen) into the recipient area. This is done on a numb scalp surface by local anesthesia.
The IHD intervention is then, absolutely painless. By combining the step of opening the channels – from the Sapphire technique – to that of direct transplantation into the recipient areas, the transplant takes less time (From 4 to 6 hours) than other techniques.
What to expect after a DHI hair transplant?
Once the DHI transplant is finished, the donor area will be covered with a bandage and a band will be placed around the patient’s forehead to prevent swelling (Very normal postoperative effect). It is recommended to follow and follow the surgeon’s instructions in order to recover well. It is also recommended to strictly avoid any activity or any object that may cause contact with the operated areas in the first days.
